Meet Phil Brown
Phil Brown
Programme Director
Programme Director, Phil, has been coaching and instructing for over 30 years, working with athletes from grassroots all the way to the International world-class level. He has held numerous posts from club coach to National Team Head Coach.
He has been running Impulse since 2008, with a year-round programme in both the alps and the UK, heading up a team of experienced coaches. During this period, He has worked as National Team Head Coach for children and senior athletes attending numerous World events.
Phil is also a coaching mentor and tutor for aspirant coaches through both the UK Coaching Pathway and the Irish Association of Snowsports Instructors (IASI), writing the coaching material for IASI.
In 2019, Phil attended Interski with IASI as a member of their demonstration team. This is a 4 yearly world Snowsports Instructor Congress and being selected to ski at this is a great achievement.

- Team GB Ski Cross Coach – Youth Olympics 2016 – Lillehammer, Norway
- Irish Team Head Coach – World Alpine Championships – Val D’Isere
- Irish Team Head Coach – World Universiade – Erzurum, Turkey
- Irish Team Head Coach – European Youth Olympics – Ricky, Czech Republic
- British Children’s Team Head Coach for 3 years.
Phil is qualified through the Irish Association of Snowsports, the British Association of snowsports and the UK Coaching Pathway. He holds the highest UKCP level currently achievable along with The ISIA and European Mountain Safety qualification
In 2016, Phil was one of the founders of the National Schools Snowsports Association (NSSA) after seeing a need for an organisation to work better with schools across all snowsports and this has built a number of successful schools snowsports events and raised the profile of the sport through the school’s pathway.
Phil’s ethos is simple and comes from a wealth of experience and knowledge across the years which has served his athletes and clients well over the years, whether novice skiers or international racers.
Based in Aosta, Italy for most of the year where Phil lives with his wife Lou, and young son, Charlie.
Phil is available for private sessions for up to 6 clients by appointment
